Korean Kanakaraju Day 1 Collections: Varun Tej Scores His Biggest-Ever Opening
Mega Prince Varun Tej is back in the spotlight with his latest release Korean Kanakaraju. After a string of films that failed to make a strong impact at the box office, the actor has finally got off to a promising start with this horror comedy.
As per the latest update from the makers, Korean Kanakaraju has collected over Rs. 10.2 crore gross from its premieres and Day 1 worldwide. With this impressive opening, the film has surpassed Varun Tej’s previous best opener, Gaddalakonda Ganesh, and has now become the biggest opening film of his career.
The film has also recorded a decent response in the overseas market. Korean Kanakaraju has grossed around $175K in the USA so far, adding to the positive start. The movie has reportedly sold more than 2.5 lakh tickets through BookMyShow and the District App, indicating solid audience interest.
More importantly, the film is receiving positive word of mouth, which could play a key role in sustaining its collections over the weekend. Given the theatrical business, the movie will need to maintain its momentum over the next few days to enter the safe zone.
The upcoming Monday holiday on account of Bonalu is another advantage for the film. If the movie continues to receive good support from audiences, the holiday could give its box office numbers an additional boost.
Directed by Merlapaka Gandhi, Korean Kanakaraju stars Ritika Nayak as the female lead, while Satya plays a pivotal role. The film is jointly produced by First Frame Entertainments and UV Creations.
With a career-best opening and encouraging word of mouth, all eyes are now on the film’s weekend performance. If the positive trend continues, Korean Kanakaraju could emerge as a much-needed box office success for Varun Tej.
