Devdutt Padikkal Hits Century as India Face Early Setback vs Sri Lanka XI
Devdutt Padikkal struck a fluent century to steady India’s innings in their three-day warm-up match against Sri Lanka Cricket XI in Colombo.
India suffered an early blow as Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed for a two-ball duck, caught at gully off left-arm pacer Vishwa Fernando. KL Rahul and Padikkal then helped India rebuild before Padikkal took control of the innings.
Padikkal reached his hundred off 121 balls, smashing 14 fours, before retiring from the innings, with Rishabh Pant coming in to bat.
Earlier, Sri Lanka XI posted 363/8 on Day 1, with India’s spinners leading the fightback after the hosts’ young batters made a strong start.
Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja picked up two wickets each, while Manav Suthar claimed one. The match does not have first-class status, with both teams allotted 90 overs on the first two days.
